Imani Christian Academy’s Drama Guild celebrated Easter with a powerful performance of “A Letter from Jerusalem,” a play that retells the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus through an intimate and deeply human lens.

“It’s from the point of view of the characters that lived in Jerusalem, as well as some people from Cyrene,” explained Rosylind Santiago, who leads the Drama Guild alongside co-director Carlton Allen and stage manager Kiya Thompson.

The production featured students from grades one through eight, with two high schoolers serving on the stage crew. For many young performers, the Easter play represents a significant leap beyond their comfort zones. “Just seeing them grow,” Santiago reflected, “seeing these students that normally wouldn’t step out of their comfort zone—just full blown character mode. It’ good to see.”

The cast began rehearsing in late December, immediately after wrapping the Christmas play, dedicating months to bringing the story to life. Their hard work paid off at opening night, which Santiago described as “spectacular,” with nothing but positive reviews from the audience.

The Easter production is one of two major Drama Guild performances each year, giving Imani students a consistent opportunity to develop confidence, explore storytelling, and share their faith through the arts.
