On October 16, Imani Christian Academy hosted the first installment of our SHE Conference series: Imagine Me. This special event brought together our girls grades 7-12 for a powerful day of encouragement, wisdom, and vision-casting for their futures.
See. Her. Emerge.
SHE stands for See Her Emerge, and it’s part of our Young Women’s Empowerment Initiative designed to ensure our young ladies feel seen, heard, and valued.
“We came up with this in the summer of 2024 and had two sessions last school year,” said CEO and Head of School Paulo Nzambi. “We were thinking about our young ladies, and we wanted to make sure principally that they felt seen, heard and valued. And so what we did is we structured a number of engagements throughout the school year where it would be exclusively focused on them and their development.”
More Than a Moment
“We want the girls to imagine themselves not just in this moment, but imagine themselves tomorrow and next year and ten years from now,” shared Principal Patrice Johnson. The conference centered on helping our young women develop a God-centered vision for who they are and who they’re becoming.
The day featured dynamic speakers addressing topics critically important to this season of life:
Healthy Relationships – Our girls are beginning to navigate romantic relationships, and we wanted to equip them with wisdom about what it means to be in a healthy relationship while never losing sight of themselves.
Toxic Friendships – Rhonda Fleming, Director of Education & Outreach at Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, led a powerful session on peer relationships, challenging our students to think intentionally about what they want, expect, and will accept in friendships. “We don’t spend enough time thinking about what we really want in a friend,” Fleming noted, encouraging the girls to recognize warning signs before finding themselves caught up in toxic dynamics.
Purpose Over Process – Leesa Finney, Imani Christian Academy’s Special Projects Specialist, reminded our students of a transformative truth: “Your beginnings do not speak to your end, but they’re merely part of your process to get to your purpose.” She encouraged the girls to embrace their God-given identity despite any challenges in their past.
The Power of Identity in Christ
“Knowledge is power, even in the spirit realm,” Finney shared. “When you get even a small snippet of who God says you are, then you won’t listen to your peers and you won’t be influenced by social media, and you’ll just walk with your head held high.”
This is why events like SHE-Imagine matter. It’s vitally important that our girls see themselves as God created them—successful, purposeful, and walking in godly womanhood, free from worldly comparisons.
We’re grateful to everyone who made this first SHE Conference possible and to our incredible students who showed up ready to invest in themselves and their futures. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey of empowerment and growth for the young women of Imani Christian Academy.
On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Imani Christian Academy CEO and Head of School Paulo Nzambi traveled to Harrisburg to testify before the Pennsylvania House Education Committee. The hearing centered on the value of the state’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs – two initiatives that make an Imani education […]
